Evaluación de pH, concentración de FeSO4 y FeCl3, en la remoción de sólidos suspendidos y sulfuros en efluentes de pelambre en curtiembres

En un incentivo por contribuir a contrarrestar la contaminación por efluentes de curtiembres, esta investigación tiene como objetivo evaluar la influencia del pH, concentración de sulfato ferroso (FeSO4) y cloruro férrico (FeCl3), así como la concentración y tipo de floculantes en la remoción de sólidos suspendidos y sulfuros en efluentes de la etapa de pelambre procedentes de la curtiembre “Ecológica del Norte S.A”.
Los valores más adecuados de las variables se determinaron mediante el método de prueba de jarras, ya que permitió determinar el pH óptimo, concentración de coagulante óptimo así como la concentración y tipo de floculante óptimo en el proceso de coagulación-floculación para el tratamiento de aguas residuales de la etapa de pelambre procedentes de la curtiembre “Ecológica del Norte S.A”.
El cloruro férrico (FeCl3) y sulfato ferroso (FeSO4) fueron empleados como coagulantes en combinación tanto con los floculantes aniónico, poliacrilamida, amina cuaternaria y floculante catiónico respectivamente.
Con los valores de pH y concentración de coagulante óptimo se procedió a evaluar la mejor dosis de concentración y tipo de floculante para el proceso de coagulación-floculación según los porcentajes de remoción en turbidez, sólidos suspendidos, sólidos totales, demanda química de oxígeno y sulfuros.
Se evaluó el pH óptimo al cual se puede realizar el proceso de coagulación (en el rango de 9.00 a 12.40) encontrando como pH óptimo 9.00 luego se evaluó la mejor dosis de concentración de FeSO4 (rango entre 10000 y 20000 mg/L) y FeCl3 (rango entre 6000 y 9000 mg/L) y a pH óptimo en el proceso de coagulación.
Finalmente se estableció que la mejor combinación entre coagulante y floculante óptimo fue a pH 9.00, con una concentración de cloruro férrico de 7000 mg/L y concentración de floculante aniónico de 50 mg/L con los cuales se logró una remoción de turbidez del 82.22 %, sólidos totales del 75.63 %, sólidos suspendidos del 95.46 %, demanda química de oxigeno del 98.41 % y sulfuros del 99.89%. Así mismo generó un costo de tratamiento de 27.84 nuevos soles /m3 de efluente tratado
