Actividad antifúngica in vitro del aceite esencial de las hojas de Myrcianthes oreophila “Unkia” frente a Candida albicans

En la actualidad cientos de plantas son utilizadas en la medicina, pero la ciencia
moderna quiere conocer los principios activos responsables para procurar su síntesis o
proponer modificaciones estructurales en busca de una mayor actividad.
El objetivo de este trabajo fue determinar la actividad antifúngica del aceite esencial de
las hojas de Myrcianthes oreophila “Unkia” frente a Candida albicans. Para ello se
utilizó 10 kg de hojas de Myrcianthes oreophila “Unkia” identificación taxonómica N°
58317, recolectadas del distrito de Llaugueda, provincia de Otuzco, región La Libertad.
Se procedió a realizar la extracción del aceite esencial mediante el método de
destilación por arrastre con vapor de agua y para evaluar la actividad antifúngica, se
utilizó Cepa de Candida albicans ATCC 10231, procedente del Laboratorio de
Microbiología de la Facultad de Ciencias Biológicas de la Universidad Nacional de
Trujillo, aplicándose el Método de Kirby-Bauer (difusión en agar). Para el efecto
antifúngico, el grupo experimental I (aceite esencial al 25%) mostró un promedio de
5,914 mm de diámetro, para el grupo experimental II (aceite esencial al 50%) reveló un
promedio de 13,498 mm de diámetro y para el grupo experimental III (aceite esencial al
75%) de mayor concentración presentó un promedio de 28,476 mm de diámetro. De
esto se concluye que el aceite esencial de hojas de Myrcianthes oreophila “Unkia” tiene
actividad antifúngica in vitro frente a Candida albicans
