El desarrollo industrial al nivel mundial ha experimentado notables avances en los últimos años con respeto a la Tecnología de Materiales y nos muestra el gran significado e importancia que tienen los metales especialmente los aceros y sus aleaciones utilizando para la construcción y fabricación de maquinarias, equipos, piezas y elementos de máquinas.
En la actualidad los Físicos que trabajan en el área de Materiales tienen conocimiento, que todos los materiales presentan defectos propios de su proceso de manufactura, como por ejemplo: vacancias, dislocaciones, poros, inclusiones no metálicas y fisuras; siendo las fisuras los defectos mas críticos, ya que éstas actúan como concentradores de tensión, llegando a propagarse y ocasionar una fractura catastrófica, bajo condiciones de carga aplicadas, inferiores a las de diseño.
En el estudio de análisis de falla se esta desarrollando un área muy importante que es el diseño Fractomecánico asistido por computadora, el cual utiliza software especializados para simular la propagación Subcrítica de fisuras así como las fallas catastróficas con una buena aproximación respecto a los datos reales.
Este trabajo analiza la aproximación en la determinación de los parámetros de propagación subcrítica de fisura, utilizando métodos numéricos, haciendo uso para esto,

de software especializados, en un acero estructural AISI 1045 previamente ensayada en el laboratorio por otros investigadores.
El análisis por elementos finitos es un método numérico usado para predecir el comportamiento de los materiales en presencia de fuerzas, altas temperaturas, vibración, etc. En términos de fractura tanto provocada como producida en el trabajo de diseño.
El análisis se ha realizado haciendo uso del método de elementos finitos mediante el programa Autodesk ALGOR Simulation Este se ha usado para determinar la tenacidad a la fractura (KIC) del material, obteniéndose como resultado un valor de 37,8 Kg/m1/2 con los datos de la biblioteca de materiales del programa Autodesk ALGOR Simulation para el acero AISI 1045 cold drawn 19-32mm, frente al valor de 34,2 Kg/m1/2 para el acero estructural Boholer H con propiedades parecidas. Generando un error de aproximadamente 10%, modelando el ensayo en dos dimensiones, además para determinar los puntos más críticos y la distribución de tensiones máximas, las tensiones de compresión, las deformaciones y otros parámetros
