El turismo cultural es una de las fuentes económicas más sostenible que contribuyen al crecimiento económico y social de un país que posee riquezas culturales. El Perú un país altamente pluricultural que muestra gran potencial en el sector turístico. Dentro de sus riquezas culturales, los patrimonios arqueológicos destacan por su antigüedad y valor histórico. Así mismo, cuenta con gran variedad de restos arqueológicos en su territorio, sin embargo, muchos de estos no se encuentran puestos en valor ya que se encuentran en abandono.
La investigación arqueológica es el componente base para una puesta en valor, pero es primordial la participación ciudadana ya que es el único modo de que el sitio arqueológico sea reconocido y valorado. Se plantea un Centro de Investigación de Arqueología Experimental en Carabayllo, distrito que cuenta con riquezas y paisajes arqueológicos. Sin embargo, muchos de estos sitios arqueológicos se encuentran en peligro de extinción por el crecimiento urbano informal y por el desconocimiento de los ciudadanos sobre sus riquezas patrimoniales. Este proyecto tiene como finalidad generar espacios donde se realice las investigaciones arqueológicas y permita la difusión e interacción de los ciudadanos con su contexto arqueológico, promoviendo la investigación científica y la difusión experimental de la arqueología del distrito de Carabayllo.
