La "cultura de cancelación" en redes sociales: El caso de Gisela Valcárcel en Twitter

Abstract

Gracias a la tecnología y la evolución de las redes sociales, los seres humanos han encontrado nuevas formas de mostrar su desaprobación al mundo. Esto a desencadenado la creación de la cultura de la cancelación, la cual ha ido creciendo significativamente en los últimos años, y le ha otorgado poder y libertad a todos los usuarios de reclamar, criticar y ridiculizar todo lo que no les parece correcto. Por ello, esta investigación analizará la cancelación que se le hizo a la conductora peruana, Gisela Valcárcel, en agosto de 2021 por un altercado con una de las participantes de su programa de televisión. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar cuáles son las consecuencias que generó esta cancelación, identificar qué es estar cancelado, investigar cómo se cancela y distinguir el porqué de las cancelaciones. La metodología que se utilizará tiene un enfoque cualitativo, paradigma interpretativo y una técnica de recolección de datos a base de entrevistas.

Thanks to technology and the evolution of social media, human beings have found new ways to show their disapproval to the world. This has triggered the creation of the culture of cancellation, which has been growing significantly in recent years and has given power and freedom to all users to claim, criticize and ridicule everything that does not seem right to them. For this reason, this investigation will analyze the cancellation made to the Peruvian host, Gisela Valcárcel, in August 2021 due to a conflict with one of the participants in her television program. The objective of this work is to analyze what are the consequences generated by this cancellation, identify what it is to be canceled, investigate how it is canceled, and distinguish the reason for the cancellations. The methodology used has a qualitative approach, interpretive paradigm, and a data collection technique based on interviews.
