Gestión de una fábrica de software dentro del modelo de empresas virtuales de la UPC: gestión 2011

Las carreras de Ingeniería de Software e Ingeniería de Sistemas de la UPC brindan, como parte de los talleres de fin de carrera, la oportunidad de interactuar en un esquema de empresas virtuales que busca simular situaciones reales que pueden presentarse durante el desempeño laboral. Una de las empresas virtuales constituida ha sido denominada “Software Factory”. Esta empresa virtual busca replicar la forma de operar de una factoría de software industrializada. Es así que se deja de lado el enfoque tradicional del desarrollo de software, para dar paso a metodologías modernas de desarrollo que permitirán optimizar recursos, tiempo y costos involucrados en el proceso de producción de software. La factoría de software de la UPC busca operar con un modelo que le permita tener una adecuada gestión de reuso. Uno de sus principales objetivos es consolidarse como una empresa proveedora de servicios, principalmente de desarrollo de software; diferenciando las líneas de producción según los clientes con los que se trabaje. Además, se desea implementar un proceso de producción y gestión de activos que permita tener un adecuado manejo de activos dentro de la empresa; lo que posibilitará mantener una base de conocimiento a lo largo del tiempo para que sea aprovechado por los distintos recursos que formarían parte de “Software Factory” en algún momento. Basados en el escenario descrito previamente y las necesidades de la empresa, surge la necesidad de transformar el modelo de gestión de Software Factory, tomando lo mejor de las gestiones anteriores y adicionando nuevos procedimientos y pautas para garantizar el logro de los objetivos planteados para la presente gestión. En tal sentido, los pilares de la gestión 2011 están distribuidos en cuatro frentes importantes. La gestión del negocio, la gestión de proyectos, la gestión de recursos y la gestión de reuso. En cada uno de estos frentes se heredan las buenas prácticas implantadas en periodos previos y se harán cambios que permitan mejorar de manera sustancial el desempeño general de la empresa. El alcance del proyecto está acotado al modelo de trabajo definido para las empresas virtuales de la UPC, mismo que podría replicarse en un entorno laboral real. Las fuentes utilizadas para el desarrollo del documento no superan los seis años de antigüedad y son de naturaleza estrictamente profesional y académica. Se ha tenido en consideración publicaciones en revistas especializadas y libros de autores de comprobada trayectoria profesional y exitosas publicaciones previas. Además se está tomando conocimiento de proyectos y tesis de alumnos egresados de la UPC, que han sido aprobadas por el comité de evaluación de las carreras de computación.
