Resumen
El presente trabajo ha sido efectuado a un estudio del aluminio, sus aleaciones, tratamientos térmicos respectivos y métodos de soldadura principales. De tal manera que pueda ser tomado como un compendio de conocimientos necesarios para trabajos de soldadura en este material, tan popular en esta época, en el campo de las industrias. La popularidad del mismo se basa en ciertas características particulares, las cuales en algunos casos son superiores a las del Acero, metal que anteriormente era considerado como el pilar en lo que se refería a estructuras, construcciones industriales y aéreas.
Las principales propiedades en las que el Aluminio aventaja al Acero y que son causas de que el primero despiece al segundo en muchas aplicaciones es:
- El Aluminio es uno de los metales estructurales más livianos ya que pesa aproximadamente la tercera parte del Acero.
- En cuanto a la resistencia a la tracción el Aluminio puro resiste 13,000 lbs/pulg2 y mediante aleaciones con pequeñas cantidades de otros metales y posteriormente un tratamiento térmico adecuado, ésta resistencia llega a sextuplicarse. Tesis
