Resumen
The setting up of the International Monetary Fund and of the World Bank entailed a sophisticated institutional arrangement the mechanisms and proceedings of which was aimed at laying the foundations for a new international order. Whilst the leitmotiv of these organizations was initially linked to a financial reordering, it was no secret that both would seek to restructure world politics. The creation and implementation of this new world order depended mainly, therefore, on the large American financial resources, to the awareness of each and every one of the 44 countries summoned to the Monetary and Financial Conference of the United Nations, as the meeting in July 1944 was formally called.
