Resumen
© 2022, Dialogo Andino. All Rights Reserved. We analyze the history of the Chilean State and its relationship with the maritime territory from microhistory approach. We study the socio-environmental conflicts between the state expansion over the maritime territory and artisanal fishermenm, emphasizing the process of bureaucratization of nature through enclosures and closures at the beginning of the 20th century. Our proposal is to explore the disputes that arise with Law No. 1,949 of the State of Chile that promoted the privatization of the sea. The artisanal fishermen endowed with the protections of the Civil Code fought using different legal, social and political techniques at different levels from the local to the national to survive to this day.
