El sector textil es uno de los pilares de la economía del país, al ser una plataforma de desarrollo de las exportaciones, con una experiencia de más de tres décadas, donde la inversión del sector privado y el aprovechamiento de los tratados de libre comercio que el gobierno de Honduras ha suscrito con otros países, han abierto las puertas para otros subsectores. El Sector de maquila textil, es el referente para otras empresas que desean desarrollar otros productos y experimentar nichos de nuevos mercados. (Pro Honduras, 2017) Una de las principales empresas en el rubro textil de Honduras es Simtex International. Simtex International es una compañía dedicada a la fabricación de tejidos básicos en las telas tabulares y abiertas, verticalmente integrada en todos sus procesos para el mercado textil de EE.UU. (Simtex International, 2008) La industria maquiladora ha prosperado en Honduras gracias a las empresas nacionales y multinacionales que se han establecido en el país y han mantenido operaciones desde principios de los años noventa. Según la Asociación Hondureña de Maquiladoras, esta industria es la que más empleos de mano de obra ofrece en el país, incluidas 146,000 directas y 500,000 trabajos indirectos. (LACCEI International, 2019) Las finanzas corresponden a un área de la economía que estudia la obtención y administración del dinero y el capital, es decir, los recursos financieros.
