Diagnóstico de mercado para pregrado de Ingeniería en Energía en UNITEC

Resumen
El presente documento de tesis es un diagnóstico de mercado para el pregrado de Ingeniería en Energía en UNITEC. Los objetivos de esta investigación fueron identificar la demanda de Ingeniería en Energía, analizar la oferta académica de otros países y determinar los conocimientos, habilidades que los ingenieros en energía deben tener para ser competentes en el mercado laboral. La metodología utilizada para la investigación se fundamentó en varias técnicas de enfoque cualitativo y cuantitativo, entre ellas el juicio de expertos, el desarrollo de un grupo focal con expertos/ empleadores del sector energía y la encuesta aplicada a los interesados directos. Entre los hallazgos más relevantes se comprueba que el 100% de los encuestados tienen planeado iniciar una carrera universitaria y de ellos un 36% tiene interés en realizar estudios de Ingeniería en Energía, de los cuales un 31% elegiría como principal opción para estudiar dicho pregrado en UNITEC. Desde el punto de vista de los expertos si existe la necesidad en el país de formar profesionales de Ingeniería en Energía especialmente orientada a las energías renovables. En países del exterior como México, España, Perú, Colombia y Guatemala se ofrece el pregrado de Ingeniería en Energía, siendo un total de 14 universidades que brindan dicho pregrado. Según los expertos/empleadores si existe mercado laboral en Honduras para los futuros profesionales en energía, ya que actualmente el sector está creciendo. Adicionalmente se realizó una propuesta de las áreas de conocimiento de una Ingeniería en Energía. The purpose of this study was to perform a market diagnose for an Energy Engineering major for UNITEC. The objectives of this investigation were to identify the demand for the major, analyze the academic offering from other countries and inentify the knowledge fields Energy Engineers must acquire to be competent in the national market. The methodology used for the investigation was based on different techniques of both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Such techniques include: Expert Judgement, Focal Group with experts and employers, and survey the possible future students. Among the most important findings is the fact that 100% of the surveyed students are planning to study a college major and 36% of them are interested in an Energy Engineering mayor. 31% of such students chose UNITEC to study this major. Moreover, from the expert’s perspective there is a real need to form professionals in an Energy Engineering major focusing on Renewable Energy. The major is offered in other countries such as Mexico, Spain, Peru, Colombia and Guatemala in a total of 14 universities. According to experts and employers there is a demand in Honduras for the future Energy Engineers since the sector is growing. Furthermore a proposal was made on the knowledge areas for an Energy Engineering major since there is an interest from students and a strong awareness from the experts that professionals are needed in the area.
