Trabalhos técnicos.The fluvial stretch of the Paraná River that formerly flow through 809 Km in the Brazilian territory, will be reduced to approximately 200 Km after the Porto Primavera dam has been closed in 1998. Several studies carried out in this region suggest that the High Paraná River floodplain still preserves a representative original fauna and has an important role in the maintenance of the Paraná basin biodiversity. The present proposal concerns the preservation and recovery of the last stretch of the Paraná River in the Brazilian territory and of the Itaipu reservoir. It proposes a way to integrate th endangered ecosystems and to carry out an important ecological role: the maintenance of the biodiversity flow.O rio Paraná, com 809 km em território brasileiro, terá seu trecho lótico reduzido a pouco mais de 200 km após o fechamento da barragem de Porto Primavera, previsto para 1998. Estudos conduzidos na região revelam que essa planície apresenta, ainda, uma boa representatividade da fauna original e tem papel fundamental na manutenção da diversidade biológica da bacia. Esta proposta versa sobre a proteção e recuperação do último segmento do rio Paraná em território brasileiro e do lago de Itaipu, como forma de propiciar a integração de ecossistemas ameaçados e desempenhar um importante papel ecológico: a manutenção do fluxo da biodiversidade.
