| dc.description | The aggregate offer of maize in Brazil between 1974 and 2000 is analyzed
using the theoretical model of the Offer Theory. The variables employed were the maize acreage
planted and the maize and soy lagged prices. Results showed that when the maize lagged price
was higher, the producers increased the maize acreage planted, and vice versa, but when the soy
lagged price was higher, the maize acreage planted was reduced. Also, producers responded
better to prices than to the maize acreage planted in the previous year. | |
| dc.description | Neste trabalho analisou-se a oferta agregada de milho no Brasil entre 1974 e 2000.
O modelo teórico utilizado foi a Teoria da Oferta. As variáveis utilizadas foram: área plantada de milho e
preços defasados de milho e de soja. Os resultados mostraram que, quando o preço defasado do milho
era alto, os produtores aumentavam a área plantada com milho e vice-versa, e que quando o preço de fasado da soja era alto, reduzia-se a área plantada com milho. Conclui-se, ainda, que os produtores res ponderam mais aos preços que à área plantada com milho no ano anterior. | |
