Resumen
Among the various ways of dealing with psychological suffering, one of them draws attention for presenting a silent and absolutist character, suicide. This commonly, or at least, is how a portion of the population surviving suicide reveals itself as a solution to the end of suffering. Of the many issues surrounding the suicidal act, one draws attention because it follows the same model of behavior, non-suicidal self-injury. The fundamental difference between both is in intention, and in suicidal behavior there is a clear notion of the degree of lethality of the act and the desire to die, while in the non-suicidal self-injury, has the same notion, but without intention of death, seeking, almost always the relief of emotional tension. Objective: To investigate, through field research, what are the characteristics, in the aspects modes of conduct, sociodemographic and psychological of people, without psychopathology, who present self-harming non-suicidal conduct. Method: This is a qualitative research conducted through a bibliographic review in the Google Scholar database between 2014 and 2019, with the descriptor "non-suicidal self-injury". Results: The population without psychopathology with non-suicidal self-injury are people who cut themselves on the surface of the skin, and may vary, in the adolescence phase aged between ten and eighteen years, of lower and middle class, living with one of the parents, experience strong conflicts and adverse emotions and are injured in the sense of feeling better.
