This article analyzes the origin and historical development of the idea of social justice, from the classic species proposed by Aristotle until your consolidation in the 20th century. From a bibliographic review research, the presence of the term is located in some international documents and comparisons are made of how the expression was expanded with the time interval between the documents analysed. The objective of such research was to investigate whether the expression social justice has stagnated over time or is still present in important documents. It is concluded that over the years its meaning has been changing and increasingly encompassing social rights.Este artigo analisa a origem e o desenvolvimento histórico da ideia de justiça social, desde as espécies clássicas propostas por Aristóteles até sua consolidação no século XX. A partir de uma pesquisa de revisão bibliográfica, localiza-se a presença do termo em alguns documentos internacionais e é feito comparações de como a expressão foi se expandindo com o intervalo de tempo entre os documentos analisados. O objetivo de tal pesquisa foi o de investigar se a expressão justiça social se estagnou com o tempo ou se ainda está presente em importantes documentos. Conclui-se que com o decorrer dos anos o seu sentido foi se alterando e abrangendo cada vez mais os direitos sociais.
