The present research aims to study the concept of freedom coined by Stuart Mill, an import liberal philosopher of the early nineteenth century, in his book On Liberty (1859). Based on this concept, the aim is to analyze the French law on the full veil in French public spaces, as well as the foundations the decision in favor of the Law 2010 - 1192, aiming to reflect whether this prohibition affects the individual freedom.O presente trabalho visa estudar o conceito de liberdade cunhado por Stuart Mill, importe filósofo liberal do início do século XIX, em sua obra Sobre a Liberdade (1859). A partir dessa concepção, busca-se analisar a lei francesa que proibiu o uso do véu integral nos espaços públicos franceses, bem como os fundamentos da decisão favorável à Lei 2010 – 1192, com o objetivo de refletir se essa proibição afeta o exercício das liberdades individuais.
