Resumen
The use of sealants in pits and fissures on occlusal dental surfaces aims to
prevent the formation of biofilm, and the consequent proliferation of cariogenic
bacteria in places of difficult mechanical removal. Sealants are resinous
materials, however, they can have different compositions, characteristics and
handling methods, in addition to different reactions to wear due to time and
external actions, such as: pH, chewing, parafunctions, brushing, among others.
This work aims to carry out a literature review on the subject, in addition to
demonstrating the technique of applying pre-heated composite resin as a pit and
fissure sealant in vitro. Demonstration was carried out on the occlusal surface of
artificial teeth, applied with different operative techniques and materials, using:
Resin (OPUS Bulk Fill Flow, FGM), and a Resin (FiltekTM Z100Xt, 3M ESPE,
USA) both were heated in a temperature of 70°C. The starting point for this study
is the observation of the literature, which demonstrates that preheating the
composite resin can increase the flow of regular consistency composites, which
could improve the adaptation of the material in the deeper portions of pits and
fissures. Thus, composite resins used as pit and fissure sealants, because they
have a greater amount of filler particles, when compared to fluid resins and resin
sealants, can improve the longevity of the procedures Thus, this proposal is
presented with the hypothesis that the use of fluid composites in pits and fissures
can increase their penetration, especially in those fissures with complex
anatomical structures.
in vitro.
