Este texto pretende discutir o estatuto do filosofar francês no século XVIII,. Mostrando o caráter anti-sistemático do pensamento produzido neste século, serão analisados alguns aspectos importantes da chamada Filosofia da Ilustração, particularmente a idéia do filósofo como aquele que, além de produzir idéias, se obriga a fazer delas um instrumento de combate para a transformação da realidade. _________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT: This article intends to discuss the statute of French way of philosophizing in the XVIII century, showing that the thought in this century is not systematic. It is going to be analyzed some important aspects of the so-called Philosophy of Enlightenment, considering especially the idea of the philosopher as somebody who besides thinking, assumes an obligation of uses this thinking as an instrument of fight to transform reality.
