A History of Anti-Racist Educational Practices in Ituiutaba In The Twentieth Century: School Cultures Teaching Brazil And Africa

This research has as object of study antiracracista educational practices. In this way, the
objective was to analyze educational practices in school and non-school spaces; to apprehend
the challenges that Law 10639/03, which amended the provisions of the National Education
Guidelines and Bases Law No. 9,394 / 96 (LDBEN), establishing the compulsory teaching of
African History and Afro-Brazilian culture for all elementary schools and medium of Brazil,
later, modified by the law 11645/08 that broadens the same orientation regarding the
indigenous to grasp the challenges this indicates the State and civil society by giving visibility
to subjects such as antiracist education; to analyze the possibility of an antiracist education
and of valorization of the history and cultures of the black populations, which precedes the
federal legislation, but fits in those efforts - highlighting the discontinuities and uncertainties
related to the implementation of projects and their positive effects; to identify how the Law
has been implemented in school practice, as well as to discuss the role of the State in the
construction of citizenship. From the theoretical contribution of Munanga, Gomes, Felice, we
discussed the impasses between affirmative policies and the reality of Brazilian education in
its social, cultural, historical, economic and pedagogical aspects. Field research was defined
as methodology for the collection of empirical data in two public schools in Ituiutaba, with
four teachers from the municipal and state spheres, and four militants from the Ituiutaba black
movement using the semistructured interview as instrument. This research points to antiracist
educational practices prior to federal legislation, implemented by teachers linked to the
militancy of black movements, which in schools teachers individually seek each one in their
own way to work with the content of the Law. the students' lack of knowledge of the
importance of the History and Culture of the Blacks and of Africa end up generating attitudes
of prejudice when the subject is approached in practice.

Desta forma, teve como objetivo analisar o praticas educativas em espaços escolares e não escolares; apreender os desafios que lei 10639/03 que alterou dispositivos da Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação Nacional nº 9.394/96 (LDBEN), e estabeleceu a obrigatoriedade do ensino de História da África e da cultura afro-brasileira para todas as escolas de ensino fundamental e médio do Brasil, posteriormente, modificada pela lei 11645/08 que amplia dá a mesma orientação quanto à temática indígena, apreender os desafios que esta indica ao Estado e à sociedade civil ao dar visibilidade a temas como a educação antirracista; analisar a possibilidade de uma educação antirracista e de valorização da história e culturas das populações negras - que antecede a legislação federal, mas se enquadra naqueles esforços – destacando as descontinuidades e incertezas relativas à implementação de projetos e os seus efeitos positivos; identificar como a Lei tem sido implementada na prática escolar, além de colocar em discussão o papel do Estado na construção da cidadania. A partir do aporte teórico de Munanga, Gomes, Felice discutiu-se os impasses entre as políticas afirmativas e a realidade da educação brasileira, em seus aspectos sociais, culturais, históricos, econômicos e pedagógicos. Definiu-se a pesquisa de campo como metodologia de coleta dos dados empíricos em duas escolas públicas de Ituiutaba, com quatro professores das esferas municipais e estaduais, e quatro militantes do movimento negro de Ituiutaba utilizando como instrumento a entrevista semiestruturada. A pesquisa aponta as práticas educacionais antirracistas anteriores a legislação federal, implementadas por professoras ligadas a militância de movimentos negros, que nas escolas os docentes buscam isoladamente cada um à sua maneira conhecimentos para trabalhar com o conteúdo da Lei. Os estudantes tem dificuldade de reconhecerem-se na história ensinada, e tendem a olhar com preconceito a cultura africana e afro-brasileira.
