This researches has as it basic proposal the reading of the theatrical text "Calabar O Elogio da Traição", woven between 1972 and 1973, by Chico Buarque and Ruy Guerra , from three points of view: the creative process, the allegoric representations of the reality and the confrontation with the Federal Censorship. This triple reading is going to establish, as the title of the work indicates, a past/ present dialogue, understanding the piece like privileged historical document. Saying the truth, this work seeks to increase, from the analysis of the creative binomial and creature, not barely more a fragment of the history of theater, but of the own national history.Mestre em HistóriaEsta pesquisa tem como proposta básica a leitura do texto teatral Calabar O Elogio da Traição , urdida entre 1972 e 1973, por Chico Buarque e Ruy Guerra, a partir de três óticas: o processo criativo, as representações alegóricas da realidade e o confronto com a Censura Federal. Esta tripla leitura visa estabelecer, como o título do trabalho indica, um diálogo passado/presente, compreendendo a peça como privilegiado documento histórico. Em verdade, este trabalho busca acrescentar, a partir da análise do binômio criador e criatura, não apenas mais um fragmento da história do teatro, mas da própria história nacional.
