The present study refers to research with students, where biology activities were explored in high school using mathematical concepts, in order to observe the students' reflection related to their learning process. The activities were organized in a didactic sequence from the perspective of DBR- Design-Based Research. In the research, there was a proposal for the use of metacognitive thinking encouraged by the teacher in situations that involved the performance of activities of a didactic sequence. he understanding of metacognitive thinking follows that of Rosa (2014), involving metacognitive elements. Data collection occurred through observations and activities performed by students of a public school in the city of Rubim-MG. As a result, the study pointed out that students resort to thoughts, possibly metacognitive, during the activities in which there was motivation proposed by the teacher.
