Ag-TiO 2 -Fe was evaluated in the removal of color and organic matter from a secondary effluent from a textile factory. The photocatalyst was characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Infrared Spectroscopy (IR), Raman Spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS). Photo-oxidation was carried out using 300mL of effluent at its natural pH of 8.39 with 105 mg (0.35g L -1 ) of the catalyst and the UV-Vis photocatalytic activity (filter cut at λ> 300 nm) of the material was studied. In 60 minutes of reaction, a removal of 100% of the color of the secondary effluent was obtained, and after 4 hours of reaction there was a reduction of the Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) of 66%, and 30% of the Total Organic Carbon (TOC). After 5 cycles of material reuse, the Ag-TiO 2 -Fe catalyst remained stable, with color removal in each cycle of 99%, 99%, 98%, 95% and 93%, respectively. The removal of COD in each cycle of 63%, 52%, 56%, 55% and 40%, respectively, showing good efficiency in 5 cycles of reuse maintaining the photocatalytic activity. Three consecutive applications were carried out in a raw effluent from the textile factory that contained an initial color of 1224 uC and COD of 660 mg L -1 , at the end of the applications the effluent showed color and COD of 389 uC and 267 mg L -1 , respectively, improving the quality of the raw effluent, which can be treated with a shorter residence time in the ETE of the textile industry. As a result, there is a reduction in the time and cost required to obtain the effluent in suitable conditions for reuse or disposal. Keywords: Secondary effluent. Photodegradation. Textile industry.
