It is argued that the magazines Zig-Zag and Sucesos, published under the imprint Zig-Zag between 1905 and 1930, through their reports and photojournalism spreaded ideas about society and indigenous cultures of Chile's new northern border, as well as its Andean neighborhood (southern Peru and Bolivia), loaded with negative elements and value judgments, all of them related to the large indigenous population of the region, contributing to create a negative imaginary around them in central Chile after the Pacific War (1879-1883).Se argumenta que las revistas Zig-Zag y Sucesos, publicadas bajo el sello Zig-Zag entre 1905 y 1930, a través de sus reportajes y fotoperiodismo difundieron ideas sobre la sociedad y las culturas indígenas de la nueva frontera norte de Chile, así como de su barrio andino (sur). Perú y Bolivia), cargados de elementos negativos y juicios de valor, todos ellos relacionados con la numerosa población indígena de la región, contribuyendo a crear un imaginario negativo en torno a ellos en el Chile central posterior a la Guerra del Pacífico (1879-1883).
