In this text we seek to analyze the phenomenon of educational massification that occurs in the context of high school and how the teaching of philosophy can contribute to mitigate this process. To this end, the notion of philosophy of the Spanish thinker José Ortega y Gasset (1883-1955) will be presented, especially focused on the analytical reading of What is Philosophy? and The Rebellion of Mass, highlighting its concern with the adequacy of educational programs to the effort to overcome the phenomenon of massification. Thus, it shows how philosophy, due to its specific character, can serve as an instrument against the phenomenon of massification of education. Finally, it indicates the gains of an approximation between the ortheguian philosophy and the reality of our educational programs, especially those that work in High School.Neste texto buscamos analisar o fenômeno de massificação educacional que ocorre no contexto do Ensino Médio e como o ensino de filosofia pode contribuir para mitigar esse processo. Para tanto, será apresentada a noção de filosofia do pensador espanhol José Ortega y Gasset (1883-1955), especialmente centrada na leitura analítica de O que é Filosofia? e de A Rebelião das Massas, destacando sua preocupação com a adequação dos programas educativos ao esforço por superar o fenômeno da massificação. Mostra-se, assim, como a filosofia, por seu caráter específico, pode servir de instrumento contra o fenômeno de massificação da educação. Por fim, indica-se os ganhos de uma aproximação entre a filosofia orteguiana e a realidade de nossos programas educativos, especialmente aqueles que funcionam no Ensino Médio.
