http://dx.doi.org/10.5902/223611706315This study was constructed to enable a greater understanding about the Carbon Credit Market,and the research method to realize it was the deductive qualitative approach, being used for itspreparation bibliographic and documentary, and structured interview with people working in thissector. It was possible to verify the operation in the generation and trading of Carbon Credits.Since the main existing environmental management tool for this market is the Kyoto Protocol, andits main instrument is the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). Based on this structureappeared the carbon credits that encourage the reduction of GEEs allowing bilateral negotiations.Thus, there was the creation of trading on the stock exchanges and the cap and trade system, andthese negotiations can become profitable. However, there is still uncertainty about its future, asthis structure is based on mechanisms valid until 2012. http://dx.doi.org/10.5902/223611706315Este estudo foi construído para possibilitar um maior entendimento sobre o Mercado de Crédito de Carbono, sendo que o método de pesquisa o dedutivo com abordagem qualitativa, sendo utilizado para sua elaboração levantamento bibliográfico e documental, além de entrevista com perguntas estruturadas com pessoas atuantes neste setor. Assim, foi possível verificar o funcionamento na geração e comércio dos Créditos de Carbono. Sendo que o principal instrumento de gestão ambiental existente para este mercado é o Protocolo de Quioto, sendo que o seu principal instrumento é o Mecanismo de Desenvolvimento Limpo (MDL). Com base nesta estrutura surgiram os Créditos de Carbono que incentivam a redução dos GEEs possibilitando negociações bilaterais. Deste modo, houve a criação de negociações nas bolsas de valores e do sistema cap and trade, sendo possível tornar essas negociações rentáveis. Todavia, ainda há incertezas quanto ao seu futuro, pois esta estrutura está baseada em mecanismos validos até 2012.
