Resumen
This article focuses on the urban universe of the evangelicals from the Federal District and São Luís, and focuses on two important themes: ‘the evangelicals and politics’ and ‘evangelicals, churches and politics’. It discusses the strong ties built between churches and believers and their impact on the electoral politics. It also discusses the increasingly active role played by the religious organizations (churches), acting similarly to political parties, launching their own candidates and influencing the elections. It is noticed that the political behavior between evangelicals and the rest of society remains the same, especially regarding to party aversion and political-party ideologies. It is a sociologically relevant fact, the influence of the religious organizations on the faithful regarding to the orientation on the vote, but this influence reaches limits, mainly on the majority elections.
