Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar as experiências na atenção aos transtornos mentais comuns (TMC) na Estratégia de Saúde da Família (ESF) à luz dos preceitos da reforma psiquiátrica (RP). Trata-se de uma revisão narrativa de literatura em que foram selecionados 20 trabalhos, publicados entre 1994 e 2010 na Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde. A discussão acerca da atenção à saúde mental na ESF tendo como fundamento a RP tem tido avanços. O apoio matricial foi identificado como estratégia para o desenvolvimento da atenção à saúde mental na ESF. A inclusão do psicólogo na ESF parece favorecer aos usuários a partir da terapia comunitária e individual. Entretanto, são escassos os estudos que tratam a saúde mental no âmbito da prevenção e promoção. Preencher as lacunas da discussão acerca das estratégias de promoção a saúde mental talvez possa contribuir para minimizar a assistência medicalizante e restrita a uma pequena parcela da população. (A.U)This paper has the objective of analyse the experiences in attention to the common mental disorders (CMD) on the Family Health Strategy (FHS) at the light of the precepts of the psychiatric reform (PR). It's about a narrative review of literature in which 20 papers where selected, published between 1994 and 2010 in the Virtual library in health. The discussion around the attention to mental health in the FHS taking as a basis the PR has been advancing. The matricial support was identified as a strategy for the development of the attention to mental health in the FHS. The inclusion of a psychologist int the FHS seems to favor the users from the communitary and individual therapy. However, the studies that treat the mental health in the scope of preservation and promotion are limited. Fill the gaps of the discussion around the strategies of promotion of mental health may contribute to minimize therestricted and medicalizing assistance to a small parcel of the population.
