Resumen
Intramural Research Program of the
Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Inova FIOCRUZ, grant number: VPPIS-001-FIO18). K.F.F.
received a fellowship from the Programa Nacional de Pós-Doutorado (PNPD),
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES; finance code:
001). B.B.A. is a senior fellow of the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico
e Tecnológico (CNPq; bolsista de produtividade). There is currently no system to track the emergence of zika virus (ZIKV) subtypes. We developed a surveillance system able to retrieve sequence submissions and further classify distinct ZIKV genotypes in the world. This approach was able to detect a new occurrence of ZIKV from African lineage in Brazil in 2019.
