Os dados estatísticos indicam que as taxas de cesarianas estão aumentando em todo o mundo, sendo particularmente altas em alguns países, incluindo o Brasil; no entanto, o consenso termina aqui. Esse é um assunto polêmico, principalmente no que diz respeito à taxa ideal de cesariana e quais são os determinantes das altas taxas de cesariana em alguns países. Statistical data indicate that rates of caesarean births are increasing worldwide, being particularly high in some countries, including Brazil; however, consensus ends here. This is a controversial subject, particularly with regard to what would be the ideal caesarean rate and what are the determinants of high caesarean rates in some countries. 2200-01-01
