Resumen
Through the life experience of the foreman of CEMA-Chile’s artisan workshop in La Junta, Region of Aysén, the role of this foundation in the lives of rural women from the austral chilean territory is analyzed, considering the relationship between rurality, motherhood and dictatorship from the oral history and social history perspective with a gender approach. The hyphotesis is that the presence of the institution in the area corresponded to the political strategy of the Military Regime to inhabit and colonize unpopulated territories in the country as an exercise of sovereignity and economic explotation of the local resources, transferring the responsibility of the State to cover the most everyday material needs for life in this locality and its surroundings to the women who participated in this foundation, perpetuating the absence of the State and consolidating its subsidiarity.
