Las capas superficiales de pavimento son comúnmente retiradas durante procesos de rehabilitación o reconstrucción de estructuras que han llegado al final de su vida útil. El material fresado de este proceso es conocido como Pavimento Asfáltico Recuperado (RAP). Este material tiene las características mecánicas necesarias para reemplazar costosos agregados y asfalto virgen requeridos para la elaboración de nuevas capas de pavimento asfaltico, lo que hace de esta práctica una alternativa sostenible y ambientalmente responsable que contribuye a preservar recursos naturales no renovables. Sin embargo las propiedades de la mezcla asfáltica final dependen de las propiedades del RAP, las cuales cambian en función de las características de la mezcla original, del tiempo de servicio del pavimento del cual fue obtenido y de las condiciones de tráfico y clima a los que fue sometido. El objetivo de este estudio es determinar la variabilidad que existe en el RAP obtenido de seis fuentes diferentes de la ciudad de Bogotá... A major concern related to the use of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavements (RAP) in hot mix asphalt is the quality and durability of the pavement layers constructed with this material. The AASHTO Quality Assurance Guide Specification uses the variability of the materials and construction processes to evaluate the overall final quality of transportation infrastructure projects. Besides, the literature and field experience about pavement structures had strengthen the idea the use of homogeneous and isotropic materials, are an indicator of more reliable structures. Within this context, this study evaluates the variability of the composition of RAP materials obtained from different sources, including their gradation, their asphalt content and the linear viscoelastic properties of the recovered asphalts. Furthermore, this work also assesses the impact the variability among RAP materials on the mechanical properties and performance of a 100% RAP hot asphalt mixture (RAP-HMA) evaluated at a meso-scale (i.e viscoelastic properties and fatigue degradation)...
