| dc.description | This monograph seeks to expose the current situation of mental health, suicide and public
policies on mental health and suicide prevention in Colombia, making a tour of the different
official statistics and the different public policies existing in the country, with a view to achieve a
broad perspective on the subject, this because it is not a secret that one of the problems that most
disturbs societies in general today is suicide, although this is an extremely delicate subject and
although no one knows for sure what happens within the mind of a person and the way in which
it interprets certain situations, since it is a very complex issue when trying to understand it from
an outside perspective, it is possible, as indicated by medical centers, to obtain clues, clues that
should be taken as warning signs in order to prevent as many suicidal acts as possible and that is
where entities should undoubtedly enter of the state and also the private ones. | |

| dc.description | La presente monografía busca exponer la situación actual de la salud mental, del suicidio
y las políticas públicas sobre salud mental y prevención del suicidio en Colombia, haciendo un
recorrido por las distintas estadísticas oficiales y las diferentes políticas públicas existentes en el
país, con miras a lograr una perspectiva amplia respecto al tema, esto debido a que no es un
secreto que una de las problemáticas que más perturba hoy a las sociedades en general es el
suicidio, si bien este es un tema supremamente delicado y aunque nadie sabe con certeza que
ocurre dentro de la mente de una persona y el modo en el que esta interpreta ciertas situaciones, ya
que es un tema muy complejo a la hora de intentar comprenderlo desde una perspectiva ajena, es
posible, tal y como indican los centros médicos, obtener indicios, pistas que se deben tomar como
señales de advertencia para lograr prevenir la mayor cantidad de actos suicidas posibles y es ahí
donde sin duda deben entrar las entidades del estado y también las privadas. | |
