This article aims to present a comparative analysis that establishes differences in the structure and content of pre-professional social representations of teaching between a group of future teachers for the primary/middle school cycles and another group of teachers for the middle/high school cycles in Ontario (Canada). For the analysis, the theory of the central nucleus proposed by Abric (1976) was used, since it allows identifying the elements of the central system of all representation as well as those of the peripheral system. The examination of the results shows that the structure and content of the teaching representation are similar for both groups but not identical. It was also evidenced that the central nucleus is composed of normative elements whereas the peripheral system is composed of an amalgam of normative elements and functional elements.
