This article makes a theoretical approach and a reflection upon the relation between the spoken language and the actions derived from it thus indicating how non-shared meanings in conversations and non-spoken hidden expectations may affect the achievement of organizational aims. It also mentions some of the proposals made by various authors to align meanings in conversations, i.e. speaking in a structured way with the objective of achieving understanding among speakers.Este artículo hace una aproximación teórica y una reflexión sobre la relación entre el lenguaje hablado y las acciones que de éste se derivan, indicando de qué forma significados no compartidos por los interlocutores en las conversaciones y expectativas ocultas no manifestadas, pueden afectar el logro de los objetivos organizacionales. Adicionalmente enuncia algunas de las propuestas hechas por varios autores para alinear significados en las conversaciones, o lo que es lo mismo, conversar de forma estructurada con el propósito de obtener el entendimiento entre los interlocutores.
