Resumen
This study aimed to conduct a pathological assessment of the Chipichape Bridge, a historic metallic structure over the Av. 6a, Calle 36 in Cali, Colombia. The objectives were to identify the current condition of the bridge, perform laboratory analyses to assess the extent of the pathology, analyze the results, and propose intervention measures.
The methodology included visual inspections, non-destructive testing, and soil analysis to evaluate the structural elements, materials, and stability of the bridge. The diagnosis revealed significant damage, including cracks, corrosion, and wear, which posed a risk to the integrity and load-bearing capacity of the structure.Based on the findings, a comprehensive intervention proposal was developed. This included sandblasting to remove deteriorated paint and corrosion, replacing damaged elements, reinforcing weakened areas, and applying protective coatings to prevent future corrosion. The proposal also considered repairs to the bridge's abutments, addressing cracks and improving the rendering.
The study concluded that timely intervention and ongoing maintenance are essential to preserve the structural integrity of the Chipichape Bridge. The findings provide valuable insights into the current condition of the bridge and serve as a basis for decision-making in terms of its repair and maintenance. This study contributes to the field of structural pathology and highlights the importance of periodic inspections and proactive measures to ensure the safety and longevity of historical metallic structures.
