dc.description.abstract | Colombia faces great challenges in the educational field, due to social, economic, and political situations. Even though education is considered a benchmark for progress and development, the lack of implementation and reform of educational policies has generated an educational deficit at the international level. Education is a constitutional right in Colombia, but there is still 13% of the student population that does not have access to quality education. In addition, education in the country is mainly focused in urban areas, which makes it more difficult to access it in rural areas, where coverage is much lower. One of the municipalities most affected by the lack of access to education is Mogotes, located south of Santander. In this municipality, there is only one school that serves more than 900 students from nearby villages. However, due to the lack of resources and the need to work to survive, many young people drop out of school. | |
