Resumen
Until the beginning of the 20th century, the architecture used in prison buildings followed the same patterns established in previous centuries, patterns related to first generation typologies: (Panopticon, Comb Type, Patio Block) which was insufficient to satisfy modern demands.
Colombia has suffered from a culture of conflict, with the confrontation between the traditional parties, the gradual appearance of armed groups and their dissidents has allowed the justice system Despite the measures of the State with the constitutional reform of 1991 and the construction of prison complexes. it generates a large number of inmates that exceed its capacity.
Today, due to the evident problems of prison overcrowding, these architectural models are being changed to incorporate important concepts of quality of life and human comfort. The city of Cali is one of the most affected regionally and nationally, a large part of its population deprived of liberty is part of the population at a disadvantage of opportunities.
The project seeks to provide a solution to the current situation of penitentiaries in Colombia and seeks to develop an architectural-spatial strategy that improves the living conditions of the prison population and promotes their rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
