Ice hockey is considered one of the most demanding sports in the world, therefore athletes must be in excellent physical condition, with well-defined skills and abilities to skate, because the risk of collision is high, due to the speed that is exercised when skating. When a player collides, they can present a traumatic brain injury. In addition, at the moment of impact there may be: lacerations, hemorrhages, contusions, bruises, ischemia, cerebral edema, cerebral hernia.
When TCE occurs, the DAL (Diffuse Axonal Injury) is appreciated, in which there is a homeostatic and metabolic imbalance and inflammation. It is necessary to classify the severity of the traumatic patient, evidencing the degree of consciousness or coma, and finally possible post-traumatic amnesia.
On the other hand, at the neuropsychological level, LAD can leave sequelae: difficulties to understand, learn, hinder the speed of information. Being this one of the main causes of death and disability; people who have had TBI at higher risk: athletes and military.
In third world countries, mortality rates are higher due to delays in the provision of medical care.
It also occurs in athletes, traffic accidents, of which the use of a helmet is very important, we must promote the importance of sport in health; always preventing any accident, using the appropriate and mandatory accessories to protect life.
