Diseño de la Guía de Compras Sostenibles para la Sede Principal de la Universidad Santo Tomás

Abstract

During the internship in the Environmental Management Area of the Integral Management Unit of University Quality (UGICU) of the Santo Tomás University, Headquarters, the Sustainable Purchasing Guide was designed for the University’s Headquarters. For the prioritization of goods, the conceptual and methodological guide on sustainable public procurement of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development was considered, and the cost-benefit analysis methodology was used to assess environmental viability, the implementation of sustainable purchasing. It was determined that currently the costs of purchasing sustainable products are too high, because of the limited supply of green businesses; however, with the implementation of a Sustainable Purchasing Guide, contributes to increasing demand for sustainable products and reduces negative impacts such as depletion of natural resources and pollution of air, water and land sources as a result of poor waste disposal.
