Resumen
The present investigation was developed with a group of employees of the company Roma
Tiendas S.A., from the city of Barrancabermeja; The general objective was to determine how work
stress influences the physical and mental health and the performance of the employees of the
company ROMA TIENDAS S.A.
The design used in the research was sequential transformative, with a mixed methodology, since
the results were analyzed and interpreted through a semi-structured interview from a qualitative
approach; Likewise, the quantitative data were interpreted and analyzed by applying the
"Occupational Stress Questionnaire of the OIT-WHO", the "Labor Performance Questionnaire".
The results obtained corroborate that in said company the level of stress is high and that there are
several work stressors that are occurring. According to the survey carried out with the workers It
is confirmed with the interview carried out with the employees who state that there is stress in the
company, especially due to the excessive workload, generating physical, mental and psychological
fatigue, as well as affecting performance and changes attitudinal and behavioral. The interviewees
in turn agree that stress is the sum of the personal and intrinsic conditions of the job and the
company, which generally cause ups and downs, motivated by the emotional imbalance that is
different in each person.
From the above, it can be concluded that the influence of stress on the performance of workers
does influence since the company has high levels of stress and therefore its workers do not perform
efficiently at work, a score that is reflected in the Questionnaire. of Labor Performance.
