Valores éticos e educação ambiental: algumas possibilidades na escola municipal de ensino fundamental

Promoting Environmental Education in school nowadays needs to develop ethical values in
students. This monograph emerges from an Environmental Education project at District
Fundamental School Rejane Garcia Gervini witch exists since the second semester of 2002
and intends to stimulate the development of Environmental Education activities in schools
located in wanting communities with the purpose of using the physical areas for the
construction of kitchen gardens and gardens and through this instruments, integrated to the
classroom, to develop the improvement of self-esteem and the students interpersonal
relationships, respect to differences, valorization of work as a way to life improvement,
incentive to a kitchen garden construction as an alternative for hunger decrease and
utilization of areas that generally are used as litter deposit, to improve school meal, to
stimulate students to take care and be responsible of the environment they take part to,
reducing violence and valorizing life. This monograph is result of a interview with students
that took place in the Casa Nova project and questionnaires to students and teachers of the
school, as well as the continuation of the project in 2005, with one fifth grade class adding
some activities to the kitchen gardens work, in conformity with the proposed objectives for
the research with the respective class. Through the results we can observe the importance of
project in students school life, because it promoted significant changes in both physical and students behavioral aspects.
