Resumen
This research analyzes news related to homeschooling in two brazilian digital journalistic media: the newspapers Gazeta do Povo and Jornal da Cidade Online. The aim is to analyze news framing of the referred newspapers, starting from questions of the Digital Sociology field that are relevant to the transformations promoted by modernity and by the New Technologies of Information and Communication. Linked to the thematic project “Moral panic and the public sphere in the digital age: an analysis of the mobilization of the ghost of 'gender ideology' in Brazil between 2011 and 2018”, we start from the assumption that the publications take place in a context of technological and media changes, with the impact on the reconfiguration in the field of journalism. In other words, we analyze the emergence of the controversy surrounding homeschooling, placing it in a public sphere marked by platformization – a process analyzed by the bibliography in the field of Digital Sociology – and in a context in which a moral panic related to educational agendas was fostered, specifically those referring to gender topics. The research began with a bibliographic survey and review concerning the theme. It was noticed, in fact, a significant increase in publications in the period between 2020 and 2021, compared to previous years, although the most recent Bill aimed at regulating the learning modality in Brazil, now archived, dates from 2015. Unlike the consulted literature, this research aims, above all, to contribute to the discussion based on the analysis of news coverage and its scope in the technical-mediated public sphere, relating political aspects and the context of newspaper conformation with technological and media changes ongoing, especially from the platforming phenomena and the contemporary aggregation-disaggregation (or bundling-unbundling) continuum. In view of the objectives and theoretical framework that constitute the project, the bibliography to be used is predominantly from Digital Sociology.
