Resumen
Based on thoughts about trajectory studies and their possibilities, we situate ourselves regarding the upgrades in political history in order to understand the process of biographies returning to the study of history, the trajectory studies being amongst them. Thereby, in the first chapter of this work, the decline of the Political History before the “New History” which criticized and denied the narratives directed exclusively towards the State and important military and political figures is observed. The usage of renewed concepts - such as the concept of power or politics - stem from the return of the studying of political history under new methods and subjects, which issued new ways of writing political history. Amongst these ways, there was a new understanding of the writings about “great men” over the last decades, highlighting the relevance and the new historical comprehension possibilities through these figures, no longer being guided by a heroic narrative. The return of biographies as a legitimate subject for history writing, allows the usage of trajectory studies which are heavily influenced by the Italian micro history. Through the second chapter of this work, seven academic works are analyzed to ponder over the changes that affected the political history area and the approaches of the previously discussed trajectory studies. The goal was to identify the usage of concepts in these productions dedicated to the trajectories of individuals involved in the Federalist Revolution (1891-1896). As well as to identify font varieties introduced by the political history renewal panorama as a whole. In this regard, it is also pointed how a deeper study of these papers, combined with the review in this seminar, allowed the tracing of a new study subject that needs to be further investigated, the trajectory of the federalist colonel, Rafael Cabeda. It is crucial to register that this research is the result of the scholarship holder’s experience in PIBIC/CNPq/UFSM and PROBIC/FAPERGS/UFSM Scientific Initiation.
