Resumen
This article presents a discussion about the constitution of the public health
policy in Brazil, of the National Policy of Integral Attention to the Health of the Man
and the possible contributions of the Social Service, identifying the motivations that
lead the men to distance themselves from the health units, as well as to seek
strategies for Social Service contribute to the implementation of PNAISH. The study pointed out that the fact that men do not look for Basic Health Care is due to a cultural character, where being sick is far from the profile historically stipulated by society, since women have a responsibility to care extended to all members of the family. Diante disso, it was verified the need to implement a public policy targeting the male population, because it was identified that the model of man invulnerable does not match the reality. The social-welfare professional should be an incentive for the implementation of the PNAISH, given that health is, in its entirety, one of the fundamental social rights, and this professional should provide access to health services where men recognize themselves as protagonists of this policy.
