The dissertation entitled "Teaching narratives on remote education in times of pandemic: analysis of
the collective subject discourse in a municipal school of Santa Maria/ RS", is linked to the Graduate
Program in Professional and Technological Education of Ctism/ UFSM. The Covid-19 pandemic led
schools to adopt remote education as an alternative to the continuity of the teaching and learning
process. In this context, this dissertation aimed to investigate how the process of remote teaching
occurred in the school researched during the pandemic and analyze the discourse of the collective
subject of teachers who worked with remote education. Among the specific objectives, we highlighted
the identification of the main challenges and obstacles encountered by teachers in the implementation
of remote education, the understanding of strategies and tools used to promote the teaching and
learning process, process of teacher training for remote education and how this influenced their
performance. The research adopted a qualitative approach and used as a data analysis technique the
discourse of the collective subject. Legal documents, opinions and questionnaires were applied to 25
teachers of the Municipal School of Elementary Education Reverend Alfredo Winderlich, located in
Vila Santos in the Urlândia neighborhood in Santa Maria in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The open
questions were answered during the months of August, September and October 2022. As for the
training of participants, all 25 have a degree in their field. Of these, 12 have specialization course, 12
master’s degree and 1 teacher with doctorate. The result of the discourse analysis of the collective
subject of the participating teachers revealed their perceptions about remote education in times of
pandemic; having as central idea the concept of remote education. Understandings about the
pedagogical planning process in the municipal school system of Santa Maria/RS and the use of tools
to enable it. Effectiveness of learning in times of remote teaching and use of digital technologies in the
educational process; Understanding of the maintainer’s commitment to teacher training for remote
education; Lifting of obstacles during remote education. Technological resources. Representation of
teachers' experiences during the remote teaching process. The results of the dissertation pointed out
that remote education brought challenges to the school, requiring the reorganization of administrative
and pedagogical routines. The research participants highlighted the importance of continuing
education for the use of technologies in education, as well as the need for public policies to ensure
access to the internet and technological resources for all students, especially those from the public
network. As a result of the research it is emphasized: the importance of technologies in education and
the challenges faced by teachers in the implementation of remote education; The training of teachers
as an essential factor for the success of remote education; contributions to the development of more
effective strategies and public policies to ensure internet access and technological resources; Need to
further explore and enhance the use of technologies in pedagogical practices to promote quality and
accessible education for all; Rethink the traditional teaching model and seek alternatives to ensure the
right to learning; The pandemic highlighted the importance of technology in education and the need for
adaptation by professionals in the field; Investments in training, training paths and technological
support for teachers; The research can contribute to the development of strategies and effective public
policies for the continuity of the educational process in crisis situations.
