Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is characterized by a therapy performed in a chamber where there is an oxygen supply of more than 21%, under increased atmospheric pressure, leading to tissue hyperoxygenation. There are many indications for the use of this therapy, highlighting its aid in tissue healing of wounds, burns, ulcers and in the postoperative period of extensive oncological surgeries, where there is a need to perform reconstruction after tumor excision. The objective of this work is to report the case of a seven-year-old canine, Cimarron breed, treated at the University Veterinary Hospital of the Federal University of Santa Maria (HVU-UFSM), presenting a grade 1 peripheral nerve sheath tumor in the distal region of the right pelvic limb. After performing cytology, blood tests and complementary imaging tests, the patient underwent surgical excision of the tumor with an axial pattern flap of the genicular artery. Postoperatively, there was ischemic necrosis of part of the skin flap, which was removed. HBOT was indicated with the purpose of accelerating the healing process, with two sessions being performed with an interval of 24 hours. It was decided to treat the wound by second intention, and on the thirtieth postoperative day, the wound was completely healed. Thus, it is concluded that HBOT is an efficient complementary therapeutic option, promoting excellent results in the tissue healing process.
