Luxação patelar medial bilateral e displasia coxofemoral bilateral em um gato – relato de caso

Patellar luxation and hip dysplasia are rare in cats. In dogs these affections are very common and are studied frequently. Nowadays, it is considered a challenger for the veterinary clinicians and surgeons. Some researches show the high prevalence for these affections in breeds cats, that is compatible with genetic predisposition. Hip dysplasia is silent in cats, without the clinical signs, and maybe it can explain how many cats present the heritability inclusion of phenotypic characters without breeders know it. Despite of the association of patellar luxation and hip dysplasia in cats are publicated, it’s not considered an important problem for the veterinary clinicians. This monography is a literature revision and a case report of a cat, female, with five months, seen at a particular clinic in Caxias do Sul, RS, Brazil, who had an excellent recuperation after the cirurgical intervention.
