dc.description.abstractIn this work, we propose to conduct a reading of the presentation and definition of the entry "linguistics" in three dictionaries: Dicionário de Linguística e Gramática by Mattoso Câmara Jr. (1978), Pequeno Vocabulário de Linguística Moderna by Francisco da Silva Borba (1976), and Dicionário de Linguística by Jean Dubois (2014). Considering the production conditions of these linguistic tools, we observe how the definitions for the entries were presented in order to understand the effects of meaning produced by them.
