The objective of this study is to understand the behavior of a metal matrix composite
(MMC) through computational simulations. To achieve this goal, a Python code was
developed to perform simulation routines in Abaqus® software, with the purpose of
increasing the number of simulations performed and obtaining a better understanding of the
behavior of the MMC. In the analysis process, several parameters were evaluated, including
mesh refinement, type of element, reinforcement angle, and volume fraction. These variables
were adjusted to observe their effects on the properties of the composite material, and the
result is described in this work. Additionally, two other codes, totaling 3 were created to
generate a simulation of an expanded model, with the first one having reinforcements aligned
in the direction of force and the second one considering a random angle. This model was then
used to calculate the homogenized elastic modulus, which was later compared to theoretical
values obtained through equations present in specialized literature. The study aims, therefore,
to contribute to the advancement of knowledge about metal matrix composites by analyzing
their behavior and properties. With this, the author hopes to better understand these materials,
helping to further drive technological developments in various areas, expanding the potential
application of MMC, opening doors for new research, and benefiting the scientific
community.
