Instituições de longa permanência para idosos: experiências do estágio obrigatório em serviço social

Abstract

The present work of course completion aims to analyze the work processes of the social worker in a Long Stay Institution for the Elderly, with a view to knowing this reality. For that, a theoretical reflection was made on the central categories, as well as, it was used as a data base the experiences in the obligatory stages in Social Work. Older people who suffer from the expressions of the social question directly or indirectly seek in the long-stay Institutions a welcoming space so that they can improve their quality of life and access social rights that were more distant when linked to their families or caregivers. The reception that is carried out by the social worker in the institution has allowed users to move away from the reality of social exclusion, poverty, domestic violence and, essentially, the lack of attention.
